The Georg Fischer COOL-FIT 4.0F pre-insulated pipe is an engineered factory-bonded system designed for high-efficiency process cooling, industrial refrigeration, and chilled water distribution where enhanced fire protection performance is mandatory. Constructed according to a 3-in-1 design principle, the pipe integrates an inner PE100 SDR17 carrier pipe, a 40 mm core of halogen-free, closed-cell GF HE foam insulation, and a robust, impact-resistant black flame-retardant outer jacket (GF-FR). This specialized jacket material elevates passive fire safety by achieving an EN 13501-1 reaction-to-fire classification of B-s2, d0 (tested in accordance with EN 13823), ensuring minimal smoke emission and eliminating flaming droplets during emergency exposure. The factory-bonded thermal barrier features a thermal conductivity rating of λ ≤ 0.026 W/mK at 20 degrees Celsius, an insulation density of ≥ 70 kg/m3, and a maximum cell diameter of 0.5 mm, creating a completely moisture- and vapor-tight barrier with zero ozone depletion potential. Rated for a continuous nominal operating pressure of 10 bar (PN10) and medium operating temperatures between 0 degrees Celsius and +60 degrees Celsius, this metric series is supplied in standard 5-meter lengths in outer pipe diameters d160 mm (DN150 with a 250 mm jacket) and d225 mm (DN200 with a 315 mm jacket). Both ends are factory-peeled to calibrated spigot lengths (L1 of 90 mm for d160 and 110 mm for d225) to facilitate direct jointing with dedicated COOL-FIT electrofusion couplers and fittings. By preventing condensation formation and eliminating external pipe post-insulation requirements on site, the lightweight assembly cuts overall system weight by roughly 60 percent compared to steel and delivers energy savings averaging 30 percent over a minimum 25-year service life.
