The Georg Fischer Fig. 103 galvanised malleable cast iron union elbow provides a robust, detachable 90-degree directional transition engineered for threaded industrial, heating, gas, and potable water piping systems. Comprising an elbow union bush (102 ET) and a male union end (382) secured by a heavy-duty union nut (374 G) with ISO 228 parallel fastening threads, the assembly facilitates rapid mechanical connection and maintenance. Sealing is achieved via a precision-machined metal-to-metal taper seat, creating a dependable, pressure-tight seal through direct contact that completely eliminates the necessity for elastomeric flat gaskets and avoids degradation from temperature swings or chemical exposure. External connections are configured with male taper jointing threads in accordance with EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1 (Design Symbol A), allowing direct integration into matching parallel or taper female threaded fittings. Manufactured from premium decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron EN-GJMW-400-5 pursuant to EN 10242, the fitting exhibits superior mechanical toughness, vibration absorption, and resistance to torsional stress. Protection against corrosion is provided by a uniform hot-dip galvanised zinc layer applied to drinking water installation standards, preventing rust formation and ensuring clean media conveyance. Covering nominal pipe dimensions from 1/2" to 1", the three-piece configuration allows pipelines and inline equipment to be disassembled and serviced radially without cutting or dismantling adjacent pipework. Rated for operational pressures up to 25 bar within a temperature range of -20 to 120 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 bar at temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius, this union elbow ensures long-term operational safety across hot and cold water services, compressed air networks, gas infrastructure, and commercial heating installations.
