The Georg Fischer longscrew socket complete 537 is a heavy-duty malleable cast iron threaded assembly designed to create rigid, demountable inline connections between fixed pipe sections without rotating either segment of the piping run. Engineered from high-grade whiteheart malleable cast iron conforming to Design Symbol A and EN-GJMW-400-5 metallurgy, the assembly incorporates an extended longscrew socket body (Fig. 536), a heavy-pattern backnut (Fig. 310b), and a matching cylindrical socket (Fig. 270b). The core tubular component features an elongated external parallel fastening thread manufactured to EN ISO 228-1 tolerance class B, paired with an internal parallel Rp thread at the opposite end conforming to EN 10226-1. The female socket is specifically manufactured with a wide internal lead-in chamfer that functions as an integral gasket chamber, ensuring uniform compression against the backnut when tightening down the sealing element. Hot-dip galvanisation applied across the fitting surfaces provides durable protection against corrosive degradation in demanding industrial, water distribution, utility, gas, and compressed air installations, while the precision electroplated threads prevent galling during adjustment. Operating across an extensive temperature envelope from -20 degrees Celsius up to 120 degrees Celsius at 25 bar, and rated for elevated thermal conditions up to 300 degrees Celsius at 20 bar, the mechanical arrangement enables rapid tie-ins, component replacements, and modifications within rigid steel pipe networks. The axial displacement mechanism allows the socket and locknut to run fully back over the tubular body, providing clear radial insertion space before being locked and sealed under mechanical compression to guarantee absolute tightness against vibration, thermal cycling, and hydrostatic line stress.
