The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) iJOINT 684C is a polypropylene tapping saddle with an integrated cutter and a compression offtake, engineered for under-pressure service connections and live network extensions on polyethylene (PE80, PE100, PEX-a) and PVC-U mains. It is rated PN16 (16 bar) across an operating temperature range of -10 degrees C to +45 degrees C and covers main pipe diameters from d63 to d160 mm, with offtake branches of d25, d32, d40 and d63 mm.

Body, nut and sealing cap are moulded in UV-stabilised polypropylene impact copolymer (PP-B) with long-term ageing stability to ISO 9080, so the fitting withstands environmental stress cracking, aggressive soils and buried-service conditions with no rust, incrustation or galvanic corrosion in the load path. Tapping is carried out with the integrated brass cutter, which retains the coupon and perforates the pipe wall cleanly, without depressurising or draining the distribution main.

Sealing relies on two independent barriers: a food-safe EPDM double-lip gasket on the compression offtake and an NBR flat lip profile gasket at the saddle-to-pipe interface, with an NBR O-ring sealing the cutter cap. The offtake follows the iJOINT push-fit principle, the pipe being inserted without dismantling the nut, while a polyacetal (POM) grip ring bites into the pipe surface for high pull-out restraint under axial load and water hammer. Stainless steel bolts and nuts clamp the saddle halves evenly and hold full compression without deforming the pipe wall.

Approved for potable water networks under DVGW GW 335-B3, KIWA and ACS, the 684C is used for house connections and service lines, main network extensions, pressure sewage systems, agricultural irrigation and temporary bypass lines on PE pipe to EN 12201 / ISO 4427 and PVC-U pipe to EN 1452.
