The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) ELGEF Plus PE100 end cap is an electrofusion closure for the outlet spigot of tapping tee saddles and modular branch saddles, sealing a prepared branch permanently and hermetically. It is offered in two outlet sizes, 55 mm and 68 mm, matching the standard ELGEF Plus modular saddle outlets, and is intended for buried or exposed HDPE water, gas and industrial distribution networks where a branch is prepared for later use or taken out of service.

Dimensioned for SDR 11 pipework, the cap is rated for a nominal pressure of 16 bar in water and 10 bar in combustible gas, in line with EN 12201-1 for water and EN 1555-3 for gas. The integrated heating coil distributes energy evenly over the full fusion zone, so the finished joint is homogeneous with the saddle outlet and reaches the pressure capability of the parent pipeline. Standard 4 mm pin connectors suit every common electrofusion control unit, and limited-path fusion indicators give a direct visual check that the cycle has run.

Moulded from 100 percent virgin PE100 resin approved by the PE100+ Association in RAL 9005 black, the cap resists electrochemical corrosion, aggressive chemicals, abrasion and environmental stress cracking, while the carbon black pigmentation protects it from UV during site storage. Thermal conductivity is 0.38 W/m·K and linear thermal expansion 0.15 to 0.20 mm/m·K, so the component behaves like the pipe it closes. Estimated service life in utility networks is 100 years.

ELGEF Plus fittings are produced under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, carry utility approvals including DVGW, KIWA, ACS, SVGW and KTW/W270, and offer full traceability through the Track & Trace system. Preparation is conventional: scrape the oxidised surface of the spigot, degrease, align and clamp before fusion.
