Malleable iron return bend
Georg Fischer return bend 60 galvanised malleable cast iron fittings are precision-engineered piping components designed to execute a continuous 180 degrees flow reversal in compact industrial, utility, and building service installations. Manufactured from high-grade decarburised whiteheart malleable cast iron type EN-GJMW-400-5 in compliance with EN 10242 Design Symbol A and ISO 49, the return bend combines cast iron pourability with high mechanical strength and shock resistance. Surface protection is provided by a premium hot-dip galvanised coating of high-purity zinc exceeding 500 g/m² (equivalent to an average thickness of 70 micrometres), guaranteeing long-term corrosion resistance and full chemical compliance for drinking water systems under DIN 50930-6 and EN 12502-3. Both ends of the U-shaped body feature parallel internal jointing threads Rp according to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, engineered to mate seamlessly with taper male threads R to produce a dependable, pressure-tight metallic thread flank seal when coupled with approved sealing compounds or PTFE sealing tape. The fitting exhibits exceptional pressure-bearing capability across wide thermal parameters, accommodating maximum permissible working pressures of 25 bar at temperatures from -20 degrees Celsius up to 120 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 bar at maximum temperatures of 300 degrees Celsius. Available in nominal fitting sizes from 1/2 inch to 2 inch (DN15 to DN50), the geometry features rigorously controlled center-to-center axis spacing dimension b from 38 mm to 102 mm and overall heights a from 45 mm to 90 mm, providing standardized z-dimensions from 32 mm to 66 mm to facilitate prefabrication and pipe planning using the z-dimension method. The component is extensively deployed in heating loops, cooling circuits, industrial manifolds, compressed air networks, non-corrosive gas delivery lines, and plant process engineering where tight pipework turnaround is required.
