The Georg Fischer reducing socket 240 delivers a heavy-duty, inline threaded connection engineered to couple two male-threaded pipe sections or fittings of differing nominal diameters across industrial and building service installations. Manufactured in full compliance with the international EN 10242 and ISO 49 standards under design symbol A, this component is cast from decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron grade EN-GJMW-400-5, providing superior structural toughness, high fatigue strength, and excellent resistance to mechanical stresses, thermal variations, and operational pressure surges. The fitting incorporates precision-machined parallel internal jointing threads designated as Rp conforming to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1 at both ends, facilitating uniform thread engagement and a tight metal-to-metal seal along the threads when paired with taper external R threads and an appropriate sealing medium. To ensure enduring protection against atmospheric corrosion and oxidative degradation, the surface is hot-dip galvanised with high-purity zinc, establishing a durable, homogeneous metallurgical bond composed of iron-zinc alloy layers covered by a pure zinc surface layer compliant with stringent drinking water hygiene requirements. Designed for demanding utility infrastructure, the reducing socket operates reliably at maximum permissible working pressures up to 25 bar for fluid temperatures ranging from minus 20 degrees to 120 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 bar at temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius. Its coaxial reducer profile provides a smooth transition between differential bore sizes, maintaining linear fluid dynamics and minimising hydraulic turbulence. Highly versatile across potable water delivery, fire sprinkler networks, cooling lines, compressed air, oil, and gaseous fuel systems, this fitting guarantees dimensional uniformity and optimal axial alignment throughout the entire piping installation.
