Malleable iron union taper galvanised

Malleable iron union taper galvanised

Material: Galv. iron

  Datasheet (PDF)

The Georg Fischer malleable iron union taper seat type 344 galvanised provides a robust, demountable male-to-male threaded connection engineered for industrial, commercial, and utility piping installations. Designed to facilitate rapid assembly, inspection, and pipeline modifications without rotating connected pipe sections, the fitting comprises a precision-machined union bush (type 383), a matching union end (type 382), and a heavy-duty union nut (type 374). The sealing mechanism relies on a direct metal-to-metal taper seat, where carefully aligned conical surfaces achieve complete hydraulic and pneumatic tightness under mechanical compression, eliminating reliance on elastomeric flat gaskets that can degrade over time under temperature extremes or aggressive media. Both connection ends feature external taper pipe threads (R) adhering to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1 with a standard 1:16 taper ratio for optimal thread sealing, while the central union nut utilizes robust parallel fastening threads (G) in accordance with EN ISO 228-1. Manufactured from high-grade decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron type EN-GJMW-400-5 conforming to EN 1562 and EN 10242 Design Symbol A, the assembly exhibits superior ductility, tensile strength, and structural integrity under dynamic system vibrations, bending moments, and axial stresses. A high-purity hot-dip galvanised coating provides an impervious barrier against oxidation and corrosion through deep iron-zinc alloy bonding, making the union fully compliant with hygienic standards for potable water distribution, natural gas and liquid fuel lines, cooling circuits, steam lines, and industrial compressed air networks. The component ensures dependable pressure containment with an allowable operating pressure of 25 bar across temperatures from -20 degrees Celsius to 120 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 bar at temperatures reaching 300 degrees Celsius.
