The Georg Fischer hexagon nipple 280 is a heavy-duty ISO/EN N8 standardised malleable cast iron pipe fitting engineered for dependable, inline joining of female-threaded piping components across industrial, commercial, and utility fluid networks. Manufactured from premium decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron grade EN-GJMW-400-5 in strict accordance with EN 10242 and ISO 49 Design Symbol A, the fitting delivers superior mechanical tenacity, exceptional structural resilience, and high impact resistance under continuous thermal and mechanical stress. The exterior and interior surfaces feature a durable hot-dip galvanised zinc finish applied above standard thicknesses with an average coating of 70 µm (surpassing 500 g/m²), establishing an impenetrable barrier against electrochemical corrosion, rust formation, and media degradation in drinking water, hydronic heating, cooling, and compressed fluid systems. Both connection ends are precision-machined with external taper pipe threads (R) manufactured according to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1 with a standard 1:16 taper geometry, generating progressive metallic flank compression against mating parallel internal threads (Rp) to achieve an impervious, pressure-tight seal when accompanied by approved sealing agents. The fitting integrates an ergonomically proportioned central hexagonal spanner collar that provides ample contact area for standard open-end or adjustable wrenches, allowing installers to transmit optimal tightening torques smoothly without deforming the component or marring the zinc layer. Designed to withstand working pressures up to 25 bar across temperatures from -20 degrees Celsius to 120 degrees Celsius, and maintaining certified integrity up to 20 bar at elevated temperatures of 300 degrees Celsius, the robust component guarantees maintenance-free longevity in water supply infrastructure, HVAC circuits, non-flammable gas lines, and industrial processing systems.
