The Georg Fischer iJoint end cap is a mechanical compression plug that closes the end of a pressure line in polyethylene (PE 80, PE 100) and cross-linked polyethylene (PEX, PEX-a) without welding, threading or adhesive. It covers pipe outside diameters from d16 mm to d110 mm and is rated PN16 (16 bar) maximum operating pressure, for potable water distribution mains and network extensions, house connections and service lines, pressure sewage systems, agricultural irrigation and greenhouses, mining and industrial fluid handling, and temporary bypass lines that are reopened when the network is extended.

Jointing follows the iJoint push-fit principle: the pipe is pushed straight into the fitting without dismantling the nut and without chamfering the pipe end, then the nut is tightened to lock the joint. A polyacetal (POM) grip ring bites into the pipe wall and provides the pull-out restraint required under water hammer and ground movement, while the thrust ring compresses a factory-lubricated, food-safe EPDM lip gasket onto the pipe outside diameter. The lip geometry maintains the seal on ovalized, undersized or scratched pipe, the usual condition of coiled PE delivered to site, and the joint can be dismantled quickly for reuse.

Body, nut and thrust ring are moulded from UV-stabilised polypropylene impact copolymer (PP-B) with long-term ageing stability to ISO 9080, the nut in blue. The fully non-metallic construction excludes rust, incrustation and galvanic corrosion in buried and exposed installations and needs no maintenance over the service life. Operating temperature range is -10 to +45 degrees Celsius. Drinking water and product approvals include DVGW, ACS, KIWA, SVGW and IIP, with testing to ISO 17885 and pipe compliance to DIN EN 12201.
