The Georg Fischer ELGEF Plus tapping tee in PE100 SDR11 (d63mm base) is an engineered modular electrofusion component designed for safe under-pressure service connections on active potable water and combustible gas distribution mains. Formulated from premium virgin PE100 high-density polyethylene, the tapping tee delivers maximum resistance to slow crack growth, chemical degradation, and mechanical ground displacement, supporting an estimated service lifetime of up to 100 years. Rated for operating pressures up to 16 bar for water and 10 bar for gas media, this modular unit is engineered to mount onto compatible ELGEF Plus branch saddles covering SDR11 pipelines from d63 mm to d225 mm and SDR17 distribution lines from d110 mm to d315 mm. The core functional assembly includes an integrated internal metal cutter manipulated with a standard 17 mm hex drive key (SW 17), enabling precise cutting into live distribution networks without depressurizing the main or releasing fluid. During the hot-tapping cycle, the cutter reliably retains the detached pipe coupon inside the core mechanism to prevent internal obstruction or contamination of downstream branches. The upper maintenance access point is sealed with an O-ring screw cap that ensures secondary containment and hermetic closure against environmental ingress or media leakage. For the branch connection, the fitting incorporates an elongated fusion spigot outlet that accommodates electrofusion couplers, reducers, and transition fittings with ample insertion depth and thermal stability during fusion. The robust construction ensures full hydraulic efficiency, minimal localized turbulence, and complete compatibility with modern trenchless and standard buried utility installations across municipal, industrial, and infrastructure networks.
