Elbow 45° malleable cast iron galvanised
The Georg Fischer type 121 malleable cast iron galvanised 45-degree elbow is an engineered threaded directional fitting engineered to facilitate compact 45-degree changes of route between pipe runs with alternating male and female thread geometries in industrial, municipal, and commercial piping systems. Manufactured from high-grade whiteheart decarburised annealed malleable cast iron grade EN-GJMW-400-5 in accordance with EN 10242 and ISO 49 Design Symbol A, the fitting integrates a parallel internal jointing thread (Rp) on one connection and a taper external jointing thread (R with a 1:16 taper ratio) on the opposite spigot, both conforming strictly to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1 standards. Pressure-tight joint integrity is achieved via direct metal-to-metal contact and radial flank compression between the intersecting thread surfaces, reinforced with compatible thread sealants such as unsintered PTFE tape, sealing paste, or hemp cord to absorb mechanical vibrations, thermal stress, and bending moments without compromising hermetic sealing. Surface protection against oxidisation, atmospheric moisture, and internal scaling is delivered by a premium hot-dip galvanised zinc coating featuring an average thickness exceeding 70 µm (500 g/m²), rigorously inspected for purity to ensure full suitability for potable water services, closed heating networks, gas lines, compressed air infrastructure, and fire protection systems. Operating reliably across an engineering pressure rating of 25 bar for media temperatures between -20 degrees Celsius and 120 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 bar at temperatures reaching 300 degrees Celsius, the fitting provides superior tensile strength, structural rigidity, and deformation resistance. The integrated geometry is fully documented within the standardized Georg Fischer z-dimension prefabrication system, simplifying axial layout calculations, minimizing assembly time, and ensuring reproducible alignment during the installation of distribution pipelines ranging from 3/8 inch to 3 inches.
