The ELGEF Plus 90 degrees transition elbow PE/stainless steel with female thread is an electrofusion fitting from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) that combines a directional change with a change of material in a single component. It joins PE100 polyethylene pipelines to threaded metallic equipment in water and gas distribution networks and in industrial utility lines, replacing the usual combination of elbow, spigot adaptor and separate mechanical transition.

The body is moulded in virgin PE100 compound, RAL 9005 black, around a factory-integrated stainless steel insert carrying a parallel female thread Rp to ISO 7-1 in sizes 1/2" to 2". The electrofusion side covers d20 to d63 mm in SDR 11, rated 16 bar for water and 10 bar for gas at reference temperature, and is manufactured in accordance with EN 12201-3 for potable water distribution, EN 1555-3 for combustible gas supply and EN ISO 15494 for industrial piping.

On the fusion side the fitting uses the standard 4 mm pin connectors, covered heating coils for uniform heat transfer across the welding zone, and limited path fusion indicators that allow the joint to be checked visually once the cycle has finished. Across the d20 to d63 range an integral pipe fixation holds the pipe end aligned and clamped during welding and cooling, so no external clamping tool is required in a trench or a plant room.

The machined stainless steel thread resists corrosion and torsional load, which makes the fitting suitable for connecting valves, water meters, instrumentation and metal manifolds in buried infrastructure as well as above ground. PE100 also stays tough at low temperature, with a Charpy notched impact strength of 13 kJ/m² at -40 degrees Celsius.
