The ELGEF Plus 90 degrees transition elbow manufactured by Georg Fischer forms a permanent, factory-moulded connection between PE100 polyethylene pipework and threaded metallic components. The fitting combines a PE100 electrofusion socket with a high-grade brass female threaded insert (Rp), so a buried polyethylene main can change direction and terminate at a metal assembly in a single component. It is rated PN 16 for water and PN 10 for combustible gas, covers diameters d20 mm to d63 mm in SDR 11, and is offered with thread sizes from 1/2" to 2".

Fusion is carried out through embedded resistance wire and standard 4 mm pin connectors, compatible with the usual electrofusion welding units. Across the d20 to d63 range the body carries integral pipe fixation, which removes the need for external alignment clamps during preparation and welding, while limited path fusion indicators give clear visual confirmation that melt pressure and heat input have been reached during and after the heating cycle. SDR 11 pipe is the reference configuration, with SDR 9 to SDR 17.6 accepted depending on the diameter step.

The polyethylene body is moulded in black PE100 (RAL 9005) from fully compounded virgin resin, with a yield stress of 25 N/mm² at 23 degrees Celsius and high resistance to slow crack growth, chemical attack and electrochemical corrosion. The factory-moulded transition zone locks the brass insert against torsional dislocation and eliminates leak paths at the metal-to-polymer interface. The fitting is produced in compliance with EN 12201-3 for water distribution and EN 1555-3 for gas networks, supporting a service life beyond 50 years under nominal operating conditions.
