PVC-A PN12.5 Pressure Pipe LaReTer
Manufactured by Lareter in Italy, the PVC-A PN12.5 pressure pipe is engineered for municipal potable water mains, pressurized irrigation networks, and industrial fluid distribution. PVC-A is an advanced polymeric alloy combining unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) with chlorinated polyethylene modifiers, eliminating brittle fracture risks while maintaining high tensile strength and rigidity. Formulated without plasticizers, the compound exhibits an elastic modulus of 2,500 MPa and a yield load of at least 40 MPa per EN ISO 6259-1. Supplied in 6,000 mm lengths in RAL 5015 blue, the PN 12.5 class provides a working pressure of 12.5 bar at 20 degrees Celsius and a ring stiffness of SN 10 kN/m2 across outside diameters from 50 mm to 500 mm.
Each pipe features an integral socket joint with a factory pre-inserted Forsheda Power-Lock seal. The gasket integrates an EPDM elastomeric element conforming to EN 681-1 and a co-molded yellow polypropylene stiffening ring without metal components. Mechanically secured during thermoforming, the gasket cannot displace or twist during assembly. The joint accommodates an angular deflection of up to 3 degrees to absorb soil settling, while providing certified vacuum tightness down to -0.5 bar.
In operational service, PVC-A PN12.5 delivers notable hydraulic and mechanical benefits over conventional materials. The alloy prevents rapid crack propagation from surface scratches or point loads, retaining ductile behavior under C-ring testing. With a roughness coefficient of k = 0.003 mm and a larger internal diameter than PE pipes of equivalent pressure rating, it minimizes head losses and pumping energy requirements. Additionally, it is approximately 25 percent lighter than PE pipes of identical PN class, simplifying handling.
The system conforms to UNI EN 1452 and holds KIWA European TIC certification KIP-105133. It meets drinking water standards under Italian Ministerial Decree DM 174/2004, circular No. 102/1978, and UNI EN 1622 for odour and flavour neutrality. With a Vicat softening point of at least 80 degrees Celsius (ISO 2507) and pressure derating conforming to DIN 8061-62 up to 60 degrees Celsius, Lareter PVC-A ensures an expected service life exceeding 50 years.
