The Georg Fischer type 586 PVC-C pressure retaining valve is a hydrodynamic control device that holds a constant upstream pressure and relieves overpressure in industrial process piping. Installed as an upstream regulator or as a bypass relief valve, it suppresses hydraulic surges and stabilises operating conditions in chemical dosing, transfer and distribution loops. The valve is rated PN10 (10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius) with an adjustable set range of 0.5 to 9.0 bar, in metric sizes from d20 mm to d63 mm (DN15 to DN50).

The body is moulded in post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) in Agate Grey RAL 7038, combining high mechanical rigidity with resistance to aggressive acids, alkalis and salts at service temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius. The control element is a PTFE-coated diaphragm with an elastomer backing, giving complete isolation of the medium and a long cycle life. Seals are available in EPDM or FKM, no metallic part contacts the medium, and stainless steel inserts (1.4404 / 316L) allow stress-free mounting on brackets or support structures.

True union ends with metric solvent cement sockets allow fast installation and lateral removal from a rigid pipe run without dismantling the adjacent sections. An optional manometer connection is available for direct monitoring of the set pressure. Typical applications include chemical processing, electroplating, semiconductor manufacturing and industrial water treatment, where standard thermoplastics fail and metallic alloys suffer localized pitting.
