The Georg Fischer ecoFIT union is a dismantling joint for PE100 pressure piping, available from d20 to d63 in SDR 11 and rated PN16. The body is injection moulded from virgin PE100 resin, so the fitting shares the long-term hydrostatic strength and chemical compatibility of the pipe it is welded into, and its spigot ends are prepared for permanent jointing in the line. Unlike a welded coupler, the union keeps one point of the system openable, which is what makes it the standard interface in front of pumps, filters, meters and valves.

Sealing is handled by an EPDM O-ring seated between the two halves of the fitting and compressed by a union nut moulded in glass fibre reinforced polypropylene. The reinforced nut carries the axial load at 16 bar and keeps the sealing faces loaded under pressure, while the O-ring geometry means the joint is simply remade by retightening the nut after a strip-down, with no adhesive or solvent involved. The EPDM compound provides chemical resistance suitable for water, closed cooling circuits and general industrial media.

Both spigots are joined by conventional butt fusion according to DVS 2207 or by IR Plus infrared welding, so the union follows the same weld sequence as the rest of the PE100 fitting range and no change of jointing technology is required on site. Six diameters — d20, d25, d32, d40, d50 and d63 — cover the small-bore end of industrial PE100 networks, where serviceable connections to instruments, skids and equipment are needed.
