The Georg Fischer metric PVC-C to stainless steel butt-weld adaptor union forms a detachable, high-integrity transition between metric PVC-C (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) thermoplastic pipework and welded stainless steel lines. Rated PN16 (16 bar at 20 degrees Celsius) and available from d16 mm to d63 mm, it suits chemical distribution, process engineering and water treatment duties where the chemical inertness of PVC-C has to meet the rigidity and thermal capability of alloy 1.4404 (AISI 316L).

The assembly combines an agate grey (RAL 7038) PVC-C solvent cement socket bush dimensioned to ISO and DIN standards, a machined 316L stainless steel butt-welding end and a heavy-duty 316L union nut. Sealing is by an elastomeric O-ring, supplied in EPDM for industrial water, saline solutions and dilute chemicals, or FKM (fluoroelastomer) for concentrated mineral acids, oxidising agents and hot chemical media. PVC-C holds its pressure capability at elevated temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius, subject to the applicable derating curves.

The true-union design allows full axial disassembly without disturbing adjacent pipework, so pumps, valves and instruments can be removed or reconfigured without cutting the line. The butt-welding end welds directly into stainless process manifolds, heat exchangers or metallic dosing modules, avoiding the stress concentrations typical of threaded transitions between dissimilar materials, while the socket end is jointed with approved industrial solvent cement. High resistance to aggressive acids, alkalis and salts prevents electrochemical corrosion at the plastic-to-metal interface in electroplating, surface treatment and chemical dosing lines.
