The Multi/Clamp Saddle Studs Rp 1/2" is a stainless steel tapping saddle from the Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) Multi/Clamp range, used to create a threaded branch on an existing pipeline without taking it out of service. The female Rp 1/2" outlet accepts a service valve, corporation stop or threaded fitting, so the pipe can be drilled under pressure once the saddle is mounted and the joint verified. Nominal pressure is 16 bar on water, and the saddle is released for both aboveground and buried installations.

Housing, band and lugs are manufactured in stainless steel AISI 304 / A2 as standard, with AISI 316 available on request for aggressive soils and water chemistries. Sealing is by an NBR gasket to EN 682 for water and gas service between -10 degrees and +70 degrees; an EPDM gasket to EN 681-1 is available on request for potable water between -10 degrees and +55 degrees. All components are produced in a dedicated stainless-steel-only environment that excludes contact corrosion, are robotically welded and fully passivated, which is what gives the clamp its long-term resistance in direct burial. For gas working pressures, confirm the application with Georg Fischer.

The saddle is designed for ductile iron, grey cast iron, steel and asbestos cement pipes; the Saddle Studs model is not suitable for plastic pipes. The lower shell half is delivered without gasket as standard, while a gasketed lower half can be ordered on request. Ten clamping ranges are offered, covering measured pipe outside diameters from 68 mm up to 289 mm – select the range that brackets the actual outside diameter, clean the pipe surface and tighten the lugs evenly before tapping.
