The Georg Fischer Type 546 Pro pneumatic ball valve in PVC-C with PPA FC actuator provides automated quarter-turn on-off control in demanding chemical and industrial piping systems. In the Fail-Safe to Close (FC) configuration, an internal mechanical spring pack drives the ball into tight shut-off whenever the pilot air supply fails or an emergency shutdown is triggered. The actuator works at a nominal control pressure of 5.6 bar and is housed in a rigid glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF) casing that resists the corrosive atmospheres found in chemical processing, surface finishing lines and water treatment plants.

Built on the modular 546 Pro platform, the valve body is produced from post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) in Agate Grey RAL 7038 and rated to PN10. PVC-C offers higher mechanical rigidity and temperature capability than conventional PVC-U, operating reliably up to 80 degrees under pressure. The flow path is sealed by wear-resistant pure PTFE ball seats with EPDM or FKM elastomer backing seals, giving chemical compatibility with concentrated acids, alkalis and aggressive salt solutions. The true union design keeps dimensional compatibility with first-generation Type 546 valve ends and union nuts, so retrofits require no change to the existing pipe run.

Automation integration follows international standards: a direct-mount NAMUR interface according to VDI/VDE 3845 accepts solenoid valves and limit switch boxes, while the ISO 5211 mounting pattern serves further actuator accessories. An optical position indicator gives immediate visual verification of the switching position. Stainless steel threaded inserts moulded into the valve base allow rigid mounting on pipe brackets without transferring external mechanical loads into the plastic body. Supplied with threaded ISO/Rp sockets in PVC-C and without manual override, the valve covers outside diameters from 16 mm to 110 mm for process isolation in semiconductor manufacturing, electroplating and aggressive chemical dosing networks.
