This PVC-U foot valve with integrated PP screen provides unidirectional non-return functionality and coarse particulate filtration on suction lines for industrial, utility, and agricultural installations. Engineered to maintain pump priming in centrifugal and surface pumping systems, the valve prevents reverse flow when the pumping unit shuts down, protecting against hydraulic shock and dry-run operation. The valve assembly combines an unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) housing with a rigid polypropylene (PP) strainer basket, ensuring complete chemical and electrochemical corrosion resistance in demanding process and raw water environments.

Rated for a nominal operating pressure of PN16 (16 bar) at 20 degrees C, this foot valve is engineered for threaded piping systems with female BSP connections available from 1/2 inch to 3 inches. The internal check mechanism incorporates an elastomer EPDM seat seal, providing bubble-tight shut-off even under minimal backpressure conditions. The integrated PP screen retains suspended solids, sediment, and mechanical impurities before they reach the pump inlet, maintaining stable suction performance while protecting downstream impellers and mechanical seals against abrasive damage. The hydraulic profile of the valve body minimises pressure drop across the intake.

Suitable for continuous operation with fluid media up to 45 degrees C, the unplasticised PVC material exhibits high chemical resistance to saline solutions, diluted acids, and industrial alkalis across water treatment plants, cooling circuits, irrigation networks, and industrial fluid handling systems. Threaded assembly requires mating BSP male threaded components sealed exclusively with PTFE tape or approved anaerobic sealants compatible with thermoplastic polymers. The threaded PP strainer section permits straightforward mechanical disassembly for periodic maintenance, screen cleaning, and debris removal without damaging the valve body.
