The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) ball valve type 546 Pro in PVC-C is an automated two-way shut-off and regulating valve for industrial fluid handling, supplied with a double-acting (DA) pneumatic actuator and metric ISO solvent cement sockets in sizes d16 to d63 mm, rated 10 bar. Control air moves the ball in both directions, so the valve holds a defined open or closed position for as long as supply pressure is present, which suits dosing stations, process modules and lines that are sequenced from a programmable controller.

The actuator housing is moulded in glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF) and carries an integrated NAMUR interface to VDI/VDE 3845, so standard pilot solenoid valves and limit switch boxes mount directly on the unit without adapter plates. A manual override allows the valve to be operated during commissioning or on loss of control air, and a visual position indicator shows ball position at a glance. Integrated stainless steel inserts take the fixing screws and keep the actuator-to-body connection rigid under repeated cycling.

The wetted parts are built from PVC-C, the compound used across the Georg Fischer industrial programme for higher temperature and chemical duty than PVC-U, combined with PTFE ball seats and seals in EPDM or FKM according to the variant ordered. FKM is selected for aggressive acids and oxidising media, EPDM for water, alkaline service and water treatment. Typical applications include chemical process and dosing lines, demineralised and ultra-pure water, electroplating and surface treatment, paint shops, microelectronics and marine installations.

Installation dimensions, including the z-dimensions, remain backward compatible with the earlier type 546 generation, so an existing manual or actuated valve can be replaced without reworking the pipe run. The sockets follow the metric ISO series used throughout the Georg Fischer PVC-C pipe and fitting system (ISO 15493), giving a homogeneous solvent cemented installation.
