The Type 038 is a lug-style metal butterfly valve supplied with a fail-safe to close (FC) pneumatic actuator from the CN/CHCN series. The spring return drives the disc to the closed position whenever the air supply is lost, so the line defaults to isolation on a control or utility failure. The lug body is drilled and threaded on both faces, which lets each flange be bolted independently into the valve and allows the downstream section of pipework to be dismantled without releasing the complete joint.

The body is cast in GGG40 ductile iron and protected with a Rilsan coating from DN50 to DN300 or with an epoxy coating from DN350 to DN600. The disc is uncoated 1.4408 stainless steel and the stem is 1.4021 stainless steel, built as a single-piece square profile up to DN300 and as a two-piece keyway design from DN350 to DN600. Seat liners are available in EPDM, EPDM/DVGW, FKM and NBR, so the elastomer can be matched to the process medium rather than the valve being forced onto a single sealing compound.

Pressure rating follows the nominal diameter: 10 bar from DN50 to DN200, 6 bar at DN250 and 4 bar from DN300 to DN600. Face-to-face dimensions conform to EN 558 row 20 and the actuator interface to DIN EN ISO 5211. The valve mates with PN6, PN10 and ANSI 125/150 flanges and covers pipe outside diameters from 63 to 630 mm, which suits on/off automation duties in industrial process lines, water treatment plants and utility distribution networks.
