The Georg Fischer Type 546 Pro FO pneumatic ball valve is an automated quarter-turn valve engineered for process control lines requiring a fail-safe open default position upon loss of control air pressure. As an authorised Georg Fischer distributor, BigWeld supplies this valve configured with metric ISO solvent cement sockets and a pressure rating of 10 bar (PN10) at 20 degrees Celsius, covering diameters from d16 mm to d63 mm.

The valve is actuated by a pneumatic actuator made of glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF). Operating in fail-safe open (FO) mode with mechanical spring return, the actuator moves the ball to the open position if air supply fails. It features an integrated NAMUR interface compliant with VDI/VDE 3845 for mounting pilot solenoid valves and limit switches. An optical position indicator and an integrated manual override allow visual monitoring and operational control during maintenance or commissioning.

Constructed from post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) in Agate Grey RAL 7038, the valve exhibits outstanding chemical resistance against aggressive acids, alkalis, and salts at working temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius under pressure. The sealing system combines a low-torque PTFE ball seat with elastomeric backing seals in EPDM or FKM. Metric solvent cement sockets comply with DIN 8079, DIN 8080, and ISO 15493 for solvent cement jointing.

The double union design allows radial removal of the valve body without dismantling adjacent pipework. Integrated 1.4404 (316L) stainless steel mounting inserts enable direct bracket fastening, isolating the thermoplastic pipe from actuator torque. Face-to-face z-dimensions are fully compatible with legacy Type 546 valves, making this assembly an ideal solution for chemical processing, industrial water treatment, and surface treatment facilities.
