Data Sheet |   Product Range | Instructional Video

Tangit PVC-U Industrial Solvent Cement is an industrial-grade gap-filling adhesive engineered specifically for the chemical cold-welding of unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) pressure piping systems. Formulated for demanding industrial fluid handling installations, this solvent cement creates permanent, shear-resistant connections rated for operating pressures up to PN16 (16 bar at 20 degrees Celsius). The adhesive is suitable for use across metric PVC-U industrial pipe networks, PRO-FIT compact fittings, valves, and transition adaptors in chemical processing, municipal water treatment, wastewater management, potable water supply, and agricultural irrigation.

Reliable joint integrity depends strictly on proper mechanical and chemical surface preparation. Pipe ends must be cut square, thoroughly deburred, and chamfered at an angle of 15 degrees to prevent wiping the adhesive layer off the socket wall during insertion. Both the pipe spigot and the fitting socket must be cleaned, degreased, and chemically prepared using Tangit Cleaner prior to cement application. When applied axially with a suitable natural-bristle brush, the cement dissolves and softens the thermoplastic contact surfaces, enabling the PVC-U polymer chains to fuse into a monolithic bond as the solvent evaporates.

The formulation possesses controlled thixotropic properties and gap-filling capability, allowing it to bridge radial dimensional tolerances between pipe and fitting. Cured joints exhibit the high chemical resistance inherent to unplasticised PVC, reliably conveying diluted inorganic acids, alkalis, and neutral saline solutions within the operating temperature limits of PVC-U up to 45 degrees Celsius. Operating pressure de-rating applies at elevated medium temperatures.

Hydrostatic pressure testing should only be initiated once the complete curing cycle has concluded, taking into account ambient installation temperatures, atmospheric humidity, and pipe dimensions. Available in 0.125 kg tubes and 1 kg cans, Tangit PVC-U Industrial Solvent Cement ensures dependable jointing performance for professional installers and plant engineers.
