The Georg Fischer PROGEF Standard Type 240 is a high-performance wafer-style butterfly valve engineered for automated isolation and flow control in aggressive industrial process piping. Manufactured with a robust body and disc in beta-nucleated polypropylene homopolymer (PP-H), this intermediate installation valve combines superior chemical resistance with exceptional mechanical endurance. Driven by an integrated pneumatic single-acting actuator configured in fail-safe-to-open (FO) mode, the valve automatically reverts to the fully open position upon loss of compressed air supply or control signal. This safety function is critical for drainage lines, cooling loops, and pressure relief circuits where continuous passage prevents overpressure. An integrated optical indicator provides unambiguous visual confirmation of disc position on site.

Actuation efficiency is governed by a pneumatic drive housed in a rugged glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF) casing that withstands corrosive industrial atmospheres. The actuator operates at a nominal control pressure of 4.2 bar and interfaces directly with automation accessories via an integrated VDI/VDE 3845 NAMUR pattern, facilitating the installation of solenoid valves, positioners, and limit switch boxes. The internal mechanism executes rapid 90 degrees quarter-turn travel with cycle times between 1 and 2 seconds. The disc geometry maintains low pressure drop across nominal sizes from D63 mm to D140 mm (2 to 5 inches), complemented by premium EPDM or FKM elastomeric profile seals for bubble-tight isolation.

Standardised according to EN 558 and ISO 5752 face-to-face dimensions, the wafer body mounts directly between standard backing flanges without requiring pipeline alterations.
