The PROGEF Standard PP-H Type 546 Pro DA ball valve from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) provides automated shut-off for aggressive chemicals, industrial water treatment and process distribution networks. The true double union body is moulded in beta-polypropylene homopolymer (beta-PP-H) and carries a double-acting pneumatic actuator. The assembly is rated at a nominal pressure of 10 bar (PN10) across sizes d16 to d63 and is leak-tested to ISO 9393-2 and EN 12266, leakage rate A.

The double-acting drive uses pilot air for both the opening and the closing stroke, giving swift, symmetrical movement and repeatable cycle times without mechanical return springs. The actuator housing is flame-retardant glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF), suited to aggressive atmospheres where metal drives corrode. It carries an integrated optical position indicator, an emergency manual override and a NAMUR interface according to VDI/VDE 3845 for direct mounting of limit switches, positioners or pilot solenoid valves.

Internally, low-friction PTFE ball seats are supported by elastomeric backing rings in EPDM or FKM, selected by variant to match the medium. A safety stem with a predetermined breaking point prevents fluid escaping to atmosphere if excessive torque is applied through the drive. Connection ends are socket fusion to ISO metric dimensions, producing homogeneous, high-integrity welded joints with standard socket fusion machines. Face-to-face z-dimensions and union nut threads match the first-generation Type 546, so the valve retrofits directly into existing manifolds without pipe modification.
