The Georg Fischer PROGEF Standard Type 546 Pro pneumatic ball valve is an automated industrial isolation valve engineered for chemical processes, water treatment, and industrial effluent lines. Manufactured by Georg Fischer from beta-PP-H (isotactic polypropylene homopolymer), this assembly combines the Type 546 Pro valve body with a single-acting PPA pneumatic fail-safe-to-open (FO) actuator. Equipped with SDR11 butt fusion spigots compatible with conventional and infrared (IR) fusion methods, it provides a nominal pressure rating of 10 bar (PN10) across sizes from d20 to d110.

The PPA pneumatic actuator features a corrosion-resistant housing made of flame-retardant glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF), providing protection against harsh chemical plant atmospheres. Operating via spring return in fail-safe-to-open (FO) mode at a control pressure of 5.6 bar, it integrates a standard NAMUR interface according to VDI/VDE 3845. This enables direct mounting of pilot solenoid valves and electrical position sensors without external brackets, complemented by a high-visibility optical position indicator.

Internal flow geometry ensures low operating torque and long service life. The ball is sealed by PTFE seats backed by elastomeric compensation rings, providing bubble-tight shut-off tested to ISO 9393-2 and EN 12266 leak rate A. Sealing options include EPDM or FKM to handle demanding chemical media such as acids, alkalis, and salts. The safety stem includes a predetermined breaking point above the dual seals, eliminating the risk of external fluid leakage during mechanical overload.

Integrated stainless steel threaded inserts in the base allow secure mounting to pipe supports without inducing stress in the piping system. The unit maintains backward dimensional compatibility with original Type 546 valves, simplifying retrofits and maintenance. Designed for a 25-year operational life with water at 20 degrees Celsius, this PROGEF Standard valve delivers reliable automated isolation across industrial piping networks.
