The Georg Fischer PROGEF Standard adaptor socket forms the transition between metric socket fusion pipework and tapered female NPT threads, covering pipe outer diameters d20 to d63 mm with thread sizes from 1/2" to 2". It is intended for industrial chemical distribution, water treatment plants and process cooling circuits, wherever a PP-H line has to terminate at male NPT instrumentation, threaded valves or packaged equipment. The precision-machined female taper follows ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 thread specifications.

The body is moulded in beta-nucleated polypropylene homopolymer (beta-PP-H) and complies with EN ISO 15494 for pressure-bearing thermoplastic piping systems. The SDR 11 wall geometry gives a nominal rating of PN10, that is 10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius, with the long-term hydrostatic strength required for a 25-year design life. Beta-PP-H resists stress cracking and chemical attack from inorganic salts, acids and alkalis, and stays impact resistant from 0 to 80 degrees Celsius.

The threaded collar carries a factory-fitted A2 stainless steel reinforcing ring. Screwing a male thread into the NPT taper generates substantial radial hoop stress in the thermoplastic wall; the external ring absorbs that load and prevents radial splitting, over-tightening fractures and creep relaxation over time, so the joint stays leak-tight with both thermoplastic and metal male threads.

The socket end is welded with calibrated heated tools, producing a homogeneous molecular bond with the pipe and leaving no mechanical leak path. Typical duties include dosing skids, industrial effluent treatment, chemical delivery lines and reverse osmosis plants where chemical purity and uptime are critical.
