The Georg Fischer PROGEF Standard flange adaptor is the butt fusion transition piece used to terminate a polypropylene line in a demountable flanged joint. It is moulded from isotactic polypropylene homopolymer β-PP-H to EN ISO 15494, in dimension series S5 / SDR11 and rated PN 10 bar, and is offered across the metric range d20 to d500 mm, so the same jointing principle can be carried from small instrument branches through to main process headers. The larger diameters of the range, from d355 upward, are produced in PP-R with MRS 10 MPa, keeping wall thickness and long-term hydrostatic strength consistent with the rest of the system.

The sealing face combines a flat and a serrated profile in one surface: the serrations retain elastomeric profile gaskets to EN 681 — EPDM or FKM depending on the medium — while the flat zone distributes bolt load evenly as the backing flange is torqued. Backing flanges are supplied separately in glass fibre reinforced polypropylene PP-GF30, UV stabilised, in PN10 DN15-600 and PN16 DN15-400 versions, or with steel or cast inserts where higher bolt loads are expected. Because the gasket carries the seal rather than the plastic face itself, the joint can be broken and remade for pump, valve or instrument maintenance without cutting the pipe.

The spigot end is fully compatible with conventional butt fusion to DVS 2207 and with contactless infrared (IR) fusion, so the adaptor is processed on the same machines and with the same parameters as the remaining PROGEF Standard butt fusion fittings. Typical duties are chemical processing, industrial effluent and water or wastewater treatment, where the chemical resistance, thermal stability and long-term hydrostatic strength of PP-H are required; the system is dimensioned for a 25-year operational life carrying water at 20 degrees.
