The Georg Fischer MSA 160 automatic electrofusion unit is engineered for reliable jointing of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) electrofusion fittings in gas and water distribution networks, building technology, and industrial pressure piping installations. Designed for fittings from d20 mm up to d160 mm (and up to d180 mm for Georg Fischer ELGEF Plus fittings), this compact welding machine delivers consistent joint quality through precise energy management. Engineered for field reliability, the MSA 160 features a robust enclosure with IP54 ingress protection against dust and water splashes. It operates reliably in ambient temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Celsius to +45 degrees Celsius, featuring automatic ambient temperature compensation that adjusts the energy output to site conditions. Continuous process monitoring checks current, voltage, and resistance throughout each fusion cycle, while the graphical LCD screen provides clear process feedback and cooling time countdowns.

Fusion parameters can be entered manually via the keypad or automatically using an optional barcode scanner. The internal memory records up to 500 fusion protocols, which can be exported via the USB Type-A port in PDF or CSV formats for ISO 12176-4 traceability and project documentation. This allows quality managers and site engineers to verify welding parameters and integrate records into pipeline quality files.

Operating on 230 V AC (190 V to 265 V) at 50 to 60 Hz, the unit supplies a controlled fusion voltage of 8 V to 42 V AC and up to 50 A output current. With a total weight of 13 kg, it is equipped with a 4-metre mains cable, 3-metre welding cable, 4.0 mm angle adapters, and a durable transport case for secure transit.
