The ELGEF Plus Topload branch saddle from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) is an electrofusion fitting in PE100, SDR 11, rated 16 bar for water and 10 bar for gas. It forms a branch outlet on an existing PE main without cutting the line, and is fused from the top of the pipe only, so the trench does not have to be opened underneath the main. Variants of this reference cover main pipe diameters d160 and d225 mm, with the wider Topload family extending up to d1000 mm.

Construction follows the modular ELGEF Plus saddle concept. Integral pipe fixation holds the saddle firmly against the main throughout heating and cooling, the 4 mm pin connectors accept any standard electrofusion control unit, and limited path fusion indicators give a visual check that the weld cycle has run. Each fitting carries barcode data and full traceability through the Track & Trace system, so the joint can be documented for the project file.

The body is moulded in PE100, colour RAL 9005, density approximately 0.95 g/cm³, yield stress 25 N/mm² and tensile E-modulus 900 N/mm² at 23 degrees C, with Charpy notched impact strength of 83 kJ/m² at 23 degrees C and 13 kJ/m² at -40 degrees C for cold-weather handling. Thermal expansion is 0.15-0.20 mm/m·K and thermal conductivity 0.38 W/m·K. Resins are PE100+ Association approved and 100% virgin, giving a corrosion-free joint with no need for cathodic protection and an estimated service life of 100 years in utility networks.

Dimensional and pressure references are EN 12201 for water and EN 1555 for gas; approvals held by the ELGEF Plus range include DVGW, KIWA, ACS, KTW/W270 and SVGW. Typical applications are drinking water and gas distribution mains, industrial PE pipework, irrigation headers and site fire mains.
