ABS Metric Branch Saddle

Metric ABS branch saddle solvent cement socket PN10

PN: 10 Bar Standard: metric

  Datasheet (PDF)

The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) metric ABS branch saddle is an engineered piping solution developed for creating reliable, rigid secondary branches directly onto metric ABS industrial pipelines. Rated for nominal operating pressures up to PN10 (10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius), this branch saddle allows mechanical installers and industrial contractors to integrate branch take-offs efficiently without sectioning the main pipeline or installing bulky conventional tees. It is engineered specifically for pressurized systems carrying chilled water, industrial cooling media, treated process water, marine fluids, and drinking water.

Constructed with a hybrid two-part assembly, the component features an upper saddle body manufactured from high-grade Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (RAL 7001 gravel grey) and a rugged lower clamping section made of rigid PVC-U. The upper saddle integrates a precision metric solvent cement socket outlet, designed to receive branch pipes such as 50 mm or 63 mm dimensions across main header sizes ranging from 90 mm up to 225 mm. The PVC-U base utilizes dedicated clamping wedges that secure uniform radial compression across the pipe circumference, ensuring stable mechanical positioning during the solvent welding process and maintaining joint integrity throughout operation.

ABS material technology offers outstanding mechanical toughness, excellent ductileness down to sub-zero temperatures, and complete immunity to galvanic or electrochemical corrosion. This makes the saddle optimal for secondary refrigeration, air conditioning loops, and water treatment plants where thermal cycling and mechanical vibration are common. The solvent-cemented joint forms a homogeneous, chemical weld with the pipe wall, minimizing turbulence and preventing leakage over long service lifespans.

Proper installation requires degreasing and preparing the bonding surfaces using approved Tangit cleaner, followed by an even application of Tangit ABS solvent cement across the saddle curved face and pipe OD. Once seated and mechanically locked with the PVC-U bottom wedges, the branch connection provides a robust, leak-free transition capable of sustaining industrial working pressures.
