The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) Type 243 PVC-C pneumatic butterfly valve delivers automated, fail-safe isolation and flow control in demanding industrial chemical piping systems. A single-acting Fail Safe to Close (FC) pneumatic actuator drives the disc through a 90 degrees rotation and returns it to the closed position automatically whenever control air pressure is lost. The lug-style body suits both intermediate installation between flanges and dead-end (end-of-line) service, combining an agate grey (RAL 7038) post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) disc with a glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF30) housing and stainless steel 1.4404 (316L) threaded lug inserts.

The PVC-C disc withstands concentrated acids, alkalis and salts and remains chemically stable up to 80 degrees Celsius under pressure. Seals are available in EPDM for general industrial media or FKM (fluoroelastomer) for elevated chemical and acid duties, both providing bubble-tight bi-directional shut-off. The PP-GF30 body carries external mechanical loads without galvanic corrosion, while the precision-machined 316L inserts allow one flange to be detached without depressurising the upstream line.

The actuator carries an optical position indicator, standardised NAMUR VDI/VDE 3845 interfaces for solenoid valve mounting and an ISO 5211 mounting flange. Flange connections comply with ISO 7005 PN10, EN 1092 PN10 and DIN 2501 PN10, with face-to-face dimensions to EN 558 and ISO 5752 Series 25. The range covers metric diameters from d63 mm (DN50) up to d315 mm (DN300) for solvent cement-welded PVC-C industrial piping networks, and BigWeld supplies every assembly fully assembled and factory tested.
