The Georg Fischer Type 179 electric ball valve provides automated flow isolation and precise on-off or modulating operation in industrial thermoplastic piping systems. Manufactured from high-grade unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), this actuated valve assembly is rated for an operating pressure of 10 bar (PN10) across a metric diameter range from 16 mm to 110 mm. The integrated electrical actuator operates across a wide universal voltage supply of 100-230 V at 50-60 Hz, ensuring seamless compatibility with standard industrial power networks without the need for auxiliary power transformers. The unit features a factory-calibrated 90 degrees rotational control range and is fitted with an internal heating element that actively prevents moisture condensation inside the housing during ambient temperature variations. Optical and electrical position feedback contacts (Open, Closed, and Middle positions) ensure dependable real-time status reporting to plant SCADA systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Mechanical reliability is reinforced by factory-integrated stainless steel mounting inserts located in the valve base, enabling rigid fastening and vibration resistance on pipe racks or structural brackets without imparting mechanical stress onto the PVC-U pipe line. The valve body incorporates double true union ends for convenient solvent cement socket jointing and straightforward maintenance without dismantling the surrounding pipeline. Low-friction PTFE ball seating surfaces paired with high-performance elastomer backing seals ensure bubble-tight bi-directional shut-off and chemical resistance against acids, alkalis, and saline solutions.

For demanding automated process installations, modular factory options and accessories can be integrated into the actuator housing, including an internal fail-safe battery return unit, advanced position controller, electronic cycle monitoring board, and a Profibus DP fieldbus communication interface.
