The Georg Fischer Type 179 electrically actuated ABS ball valve provides fully automated quarter-turn isolation and on/off flow management for industrial water treatment, cooling installations, secondary refrigeration circuits, and marine process systems. Engineered around the proven Type 546 valve platform, this automated assembly combines durable thermoplastic piping construction with high-performance electric actuation rated for 100 to 230 V supply voltages. The valve body is injection-moulded from high-grade Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), delivering exceptional impact resistance and dependable low-temperature mechanical toughness, making it especially suited for chilled water distribution and glycol cooling loops operating at PN10 nominal pressure.

Automation is driven by the robust Georg Fischer EA25, EA45, or EA120 electric actuator series, enclosed in a rugged glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene housing engineered to IP68 environmental ingress standards. Each actuator is equipped with an integrated heating element to prevent internal condensation, optical position indication, limit switches for open, closed, and intermediate position feedback, and an accessible manual emergency override for scheduled commissioning or unexpected power interruption. The electrical unit readily accommodates modern bus communication protocols including Modbus TCP and Profibus DP, along with optional fail-safe return units and digital positioner modules for complete integration into plant control systems.

Internally, the Type 179 incorporates pure PTFE ball seats for low operating torque and extended duty cycles, backed by premium EPDM sealing rings that maintain leak-tight performance across fluctuating operating temperatures. Integrated stainless steel threaded inserts in the ABS base enable secure bracket fastening without stressing the valve body or pipework. Pipe connections are formed via ISO metric solvent cement sockets spanning outer diameters from d16 up to d110 (nominal diameters DN10 through DN100), ensuring permanent, rigid joint integrity with Tangit ABS solvent cementing systems.
