The Blucast 90 degree double flanged bend is a ductile iron fitting used to change direction in flanged water mains, available from DN 50 to DN 600 and rated PN16. The body is cast from EN-GJS-500-7 ductile iron and designed to EN545, with flanges drilled to EN1092-2, so the bend bolts straight onto gate valves, flange adaptors, tees and flanged pipe of the same class without adaptor pieces. Bolt circle, flange thickness and drilling follow the standard, which keeps the fitting fully interchangeable within a flanged assembly.

Corrosion protection is a powder epoxy coating with a minimum thickness of 250 micron, WRAS approved and applied over the complete internal and external surface on Blucast's own automatic coating line; the standard finish is RAL 5015. The coating makes the bend suitable for drinking water distribution and treatment duty as well as neutral liquids, and an ACS-approved epoxy is available on request for fittings. Ductile iron EN-GJS-500-7 combines high compressive strength with enough elongation to tolerate ground movement and bolt loads at the flange face.

A 90 degree change of direction produces the largest resultant thrust of any standard bend, so thrust blocks or restrained joints must be dimensioned for the working and test pressure of the line. Gaskets and bolt sets are selected to match the EN1092-2 drilling of both mating flanges.
