The Georg Fischer PVC-U 90-degree plain to threaded elbow is an engineered transition fitting designed for high-integrity industrial piping systems. Manufactured from unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U in dark grey RAL 7011), this fitting combines a metric solvent cement socket with a parallel female thread (Rp per ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1). Engineered for nominal working pressures up to PN16 (16 bar at 20°C), it enables a secure right-angle directional change while transitioning smoothly between rigid solvent-welded pipeline runs and threaded industrial equipment, valves, or instrumentation.

A key engineering feature of this transition elbow is the external stainless steel reinforcing ring encircling the female threaded connection. When tightening male threaded components or during thermal fluctuation cycles, standard plastic threads are vulnerable to hoop stress cracking and radial expansion. The integrated metal reinforcing ring absorbs these circumferential mechanical stresses, ensuring structural stability, preventing over-tightening fractures, and maintaining a pressure-tight seal without risking brittle failure. The metric plain socket end provides a precise interference fit for solvent cement jointing with approved THF-based PVC-U adhesives.

Operating reliably across an industrial temperature range from 0°C to 60°C with corresponding pressure de-rating, unplasticised PVC provides outstanding resistance to inorganic acids, alkalis, chemical solutions, and demineralised water. The smooth internal bore minimises hydraulic friction loss, eliminates scaling, and prevents biofilm buildup in water treatment, chemical dosing, cooling loops, and process distribution networks. The fitting is completely non-corrosive, offering extended operational service life in aggressive chemical environments.
