The PVC-U 90 degrees elbow with plain socket and Rp female thread is a Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) transition fitting that combines a directional change with the move from a solvent cemented line to a threaded connection. One end is a solvent cement socket for metric PVC-U pipe, the other a parallel female thread Rp to ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1, reinforced with a stainless steel ring that absorbs the stress of thread make-up and keeps the fitting dimensionally stable. The range covers 16 mm - 3/8" up to 110 mm - 4" and is rated PN16, the nominal pressure referring to water at 20 degrees C.

The body is moulded in stabilised, unplasticised PVC-U, a rigid material with high resistance to acids, alkalis and saline solutions, which makes the fitting suitable for potable water distribution, irrigation mains and headers, pump and manifold connections, dosing skids and general industrial process lines. Above 20 degrees C the admissible working pressure must be derated according to the PVC-U pressure/temperature diagram. Dimensions and material comply with ISO EN 1452-3, while the thread form follows UNI ISO 7-1 and DIN 2999, so the fitting mates with standard metal or plastic male threads.

On the socket side the pipe end is cut square, chamfered and cleaned, then jointed with a PVC-U solvent cement (Tangit PVC-U, Tangit PVC-U Plus or Tangit DTX for aggressive chemical media), observing the curing time before pressure testing. The threaded side is sealed with PTFE tape only and tightened by hand plus a short wrench travel; thread pastes that attack PVC-U must never be used, and over-tightening remains the usual cause of stress cracking in threaded plastic fittings.
