The Georg Fischer ecoFIT Adaptor Socket PE80 is a threaded transition fitting for polyethylene pressure piping, combining a metric socket fusion end with a parallel female thread Rp. It is available in diameters d20 to d63 mm with thread sizes Rp 1/2 to Rp 2, in SDR 11, rated PN10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius. The fitting allows a welded PE network to terminate in a demountable threaded connection towards metal or plastic components — valves, instruments, pumps, measuring points — without interrupting the continuity of the fused line.

The body is moulded in PE80, the material used across the ecoFIT socket fusion programme for elbows, tees, sockets, reducers, end caps and unions, so the welded joint behaves in the same way as the surrounding PE100/PE80 pipework. A stainless steel (A2) reinforcing ring is embedded around the thread to keep the thread geometry stable under tightening torque and mechanical load, which is the usual weak point of unreinforced plastic threads.

Installation follows standard socket fusion practice: pipe end and fitting socket are heated with a matched socket welding tool, joined and held undisturbed until cooled. The threaded side is made up with minimal mechanical stress — no excessive torque and no leverage transmitted from the connected pipework — and sealing pastes that are incompatible with polyethylene must be avoided.

Typical applications are industrial PE piping transitions that require a reliable, chemically resistant PE-to-metal or PE-to-plastic threaded joint: chemical dosing lines, water treatment units, cooling circuits and process distribution where the network is welded PE and the equipment is threaded.
