The ecoFIT adaptor socket manufactured by Georg Fischer is an engineered transition fitting designed for direct, stress-resistant connection between industrial PE100 piping systems and threaded components. Fabricated from high-grade virgin PE100 polyethylene, this fitting features an SDR11 spigot designed for butt fusion and infrared (IR) welding, transitioning into a cylindrical BSP parallel female thread (Rp). It provides an uncompromising fluid conduit across industrial water treatment facilities, chemical processing lines, cooling installations, and utility distribution networks where plastic systems interface with threaded valves, instrumentation, or metallic equipment.

Engineered to withstand rigorous operational demands, the fitting is rated for a nominal working pressure of PN16 (16 bar) at an ambient water temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. The female threaded section incorporates an integrated A2 grade stainless steel reinforcing ring. This external metallic collar prevents radial expansion and creep of the thermoplastic under tightening torque and continuous hydrostatic load, ensuring a permanent, leak-tight seal throughout the operational lifespan of the installation. The product range covers pipe outside diameters from d20 mm up to d63 mm (nominal sizes DN15 to DN50), with female threads spanning Rp 1/2 inch to Rp 2 inch. Across these variants, overall length (Lmax) ranges from 49 mm to 62 mm, spanner flat widths (SLW) span 32 mm to 80 mm, and spigot wall thickness (s1) ranges from 1.9 mm to 5.8 mm.

Full compliance with EN ISO 15494 guarantees strict dimensional precision, chemical resistance, and compatibility with standard industrial welding equipment. During assembly, installers must observe critical guidelines: avoid liquid thread pastes or sealing compounds containing plasticisers or aggressive solvents harmful to polyethylene; PTFE sealing tape is the approved sealant for cylindrical Rp threads. Additionally, piping layouts should ensure proper anchoring to minimise bending moments, mechanical vibrations, and cyclic thermal stresses at the threaded transition interface.
