The Georg Fischer ABS metric to brass Rp adaptor union provides a demountable transition between metric ABS solvent cement piping networks and threaded metal equipment or pipework. Engineered for continuous duty at a nominal pressure of PN10 (10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius), this composite union connects solvent-welded metric ABS lines (diameters d20 mm up to d63 mm) to metallic components with parallel female Rp threads (sizes 1/2 inch through 2 inches). The union allows straightforward disconnection of plant equipment, heat exchangers, circulation pumps, and valve assemblies without sectioning the rigid ABS distribution system.

The assembly comprises a robust ABS union nut, an ABS metric solvent socket bush, a precision-machined brass female threaded end with internal Rp parallel thread, and an elastomeric EPDM O-ring gasket (code 748 410). Incorporating a brass threaded end provides high mechanical resistance against galling, cross-threading, and overtightening stresses encountered when connecting thermoplastics to metallic valves or manifolds. The profiled EPDM O-ring seal ensures positive sealing under radial and axial compression within the machined face, preventing leakage under operational thermal fluctuations and hydraulic pulsations.

ABS offers high impact toughness, ductility at sub-zero temperatures down to minus 40 degrees Celsius, and complete resistance to scaling and corrosion. This makes the adaptor union well-suited for chilled water circuits, glycol refrigeration, industrial process cooling, drinking water distribution, and marine systems. For solvent cementing of the ABS socket end, standard installation practice specifies Tangit ABS solvent cement and Tangit cleaner. The demountable joint enables rapid maintenance, inspection, and component replacement while maintaining full structural reliability.
