The Georg Fischer union elbow 97 is an engineered three-piece malleable cast iron fitting featuring a flat seat configuration (ISO/EN UA2) designed for detachable 90-degree directional transitions in industrial, utility, gas, and building services piping systems. Structured to enable rapid assembly, maintenance, and reconfiguration of rigid pipework without rotating connected lines, the assembly incorporates a 90-degree female elbow bush piece (figure 95 ET) with parallel internal Rp threads, an external male union end piece (figure 371) with taper external R threads conforming to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, and a heavy-duty captive union nut (figure 374) utilizing ISO 228-1 G fastening threads. Tightening the union nut draws the precision-machined mating face of the union end against the planar sealing seat of the elbow bush, securely compressing a flat gasket to establish a reliable, high-integrity mechanical seal across extensive thermal cycles from -20 degrees Celsius up to 300 degrees Celsius. Rated for operating pressures up to 25 bar between -20 and 120 degrees Celsius and 20 bar at elevated temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius, the fitting accommodates fluids, gases, steam, compressed air, and hydrocarbon media. Manufactured from whiteheart malleable cast iron under Design Symbol A specifications, the casting provides exceptional ductility, shock absorption, and high tensile endurance that counteract vibration and thermal contraction stresses in metallic pipe routes. Available in standard black surface treatment and high-purity hot-dip galvanized zinc coating adhering to EN 10242, the component offers long-term resistance to corrosion across drinking water installations, chilled water loops, fire extinguishing systems, and chemical process piping across dimensions from 3/8 inch to 2 inches.
