The Georg Fischer PVC-U male threaded plug PN16 is a pressure-tight end closure for industrial, water treatment and chemical distribution piping. Moulded in high-grade unplasticised polyvinyl chloride, it carries an external taper pipe thread (R to ISO 7-1 and EN 10226-1) for mechanical blanking of threaded branches, valve take-offs and manifold ports. Nominal working pressure is 16 bar at 20 degrees Celsius, with pressure de-rating applied as the medium temperature rises towards the 45 degrees Celsius limit of PVC-U.

PVC-U delivers high chemical resistance to diluted inorganic acids, alkalis, saline solutions and common industrial chemicals, which makes this plug a durable alternative to metallic blanking parts in corrosive service. The R taper thread engages reliably in the parallel Rp female threads of PVC-U fittings, valves and adaptors, removing the galvanic corrosion and fluid contamination risks of mixed-metal joints. Seal the joint with PTFE tape; thread pastes chemically harmful to PVC-U must strictly be avoided, as they can initiate stress cracking in the vinyl polymer.

The hexagonal head accepts standard trade wrenches, so a line can be closed, opened for inspection and re-closed quickly during commissioning and maintenance without shearing the thread. Typical duties include terminating utility networks, blanking unused outlets on chemical dosing skids, closing test points on process lines and capping manifolds in agricultural irrigation installations.
