The equal threaded nipple PVC-U PN16 is an industrial jointing component that connects two female threaded piping elements directly, without an intermediate adaptor. It is manufactured from high-grade unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) to ISO EN 1452-3 and rated PN16, 16 bar nominal working pressure at 20 degrees C. Both ends carry taper male pipe threads of type R produced to ISO 7-1 and EN 10226-1, giving accurate dimensional alignment and a dependable seal in process lines, water treatment plants, industrial utility networks and automated irrigation circuits. The range covers nominal thread sizes from 3/8" to 4".

Supplied by BigWeld, an authorised Georg Fischer distributor, these fittings are produced to European manufacturing tolerances for dimensional stability, mechanical endurance and chemical inertness. PVC-U offers high chemical resistance to inorganic acids, alkalis, saline solutions and a wide range of industrial effluents, and removes the galvanic corrosion, internal scaling and microbiological fouling typical of metallic threaded fittings. The working thermal envelope runs from 0 degrees C to 60 degrees C, with standard pressure de-rating applied as the medium temperature rises above 20 degrees C; the material keeps high tensile stiffness and dimensional stability under sustained hydraulic load.

For assembly into female threaded sockets, use PTFE sealing tape or sealing compounds certified as compatible with thermoplastics. Mineral-oil and solvent-based thread pastes must be avoided, as they can induce environmental stress cracking in PVC-U. The hexagonal or grooved wrench profile allows controlled torque during tightening, protecting the thread flanks while achieving a fluid-tight joint. Typical applications include potable water distribution, chemical conveyance, swimming pool technology and agricultural fertigation.
