The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) PVC-U threaded increaser PN16 is a precision injection-moulded adaptor fitting that joins threaded pipe sections of different nominal sizes within industrial pressure lines. It combines an external taper male thread (R) with an internal parallel female thread (Rp) to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, and is moulded in unplasticised polyvinyl chloride in the standard industrial dark grey RAL 7011.

The fitting is rated for a maximum allowable working pressure of 16 bar at 20 degrees Celsius and keeps its dimensional stability under continuous load up to an upper service temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, with the standard thermal de-rating factors applied as medium temperature rises. PVC-U offers high chemical resistance to inorganic acids, alkalis, saline solutions and industrial effluents, which makes the threaded transition suitable where metal adaptors corrode.

Because unplasticised polyvinyl chloride is sensitive to certain organic compounds, the threads must be sealed only with compatible materials such as pure PTFE tape or sealing pastes certified for thermoplastics; pastes carrying plasticisers or solvent carriers can trigger environmental stress cracking and must be avoided.

Typical duties include chemical process installations, water and wastewater treatment plants, cooling circuits, process piping and irrigation networks, where the fitting connects threaded equipment, valve ports and instrumentation points directly into the header without solvent cement curing times. Nine thread combinations are available, from 3/8 inch - 1/2 inch up to 3 inch - 4 inch. Supplied across Europe by BigWeld, an authorised Georg Fischer distributor.
