The PE100 reduced electrofusion tee (EF SDR11) is an engineered thermoplastic fitting for creating high-integrity branch connections in municipal, industrial and utility pipeline networks. Produced from 100% virgin high-density polyethylene in RAL 9005 black and part of the Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) ELGEF Plus utility range, it is rated PN16 (16 bar) for water and PN10 (10 bar) for combustible gas, and is dimensioned so that a smaller lateral line can be taken off a larger distribution main without localised stress points or premature turbulence.

Precision-embedded resistance heating coils and standard 4 mm pin connectors deliver uniform heat transfer across the whole fusion interface, while limited-path fusion indicators give direct visual confirmation of the energy input at the end of the welding cycle. An integrated Track & Trace barcode provides full traceability and allows modern electrofusion control units to read the welding parameters automatically, in line with EN 12201-3 for water and EN 1555-3 for gas.

PE100 is immune to electrochemical corrosion, biological encrustation and aggressive chemicals from the surrounding soil or the conveyed medium. With an estimated service life of 100 years, the tee resists slow crack growth (SCG) and rapid crack propagation (RCP) and retains ductility down to -40 degrees C, where notched Charpy impact strength remains at 13 kJ/m². The fused joint is homogeneous and monolithic with the pipe wall, so no mechanical sealing element can leak over the service life.

Installation follows standard polyethylene practice: mechanical scraping of the oxidised pipe surface, degreasing with an approved solvent and stress-free clamping in alignment clamps throughout the heating and cooling phases. The fitting is compatible with SDR11 PE100 and PE80 pipe for drinking water supply, pressure sewerage, gas distribution and industrial pressure networks.
