The Georg Fischer PROGEF Type 586 pressure retaining valve maintains a constant upstream operating pressure, dampens system pulsations, and mitigates pressure peaks in industrial piping. Operating as a direct-acting backpressure and overflow regulator, the valve remains closed until upstream pressure reaches the spring setpoint, discharging excess media to protect upstream equipment. Manufactured by Georg Fischer, this compact valve is designed for industrial water treatment, chemical distribution, effluent neutralisation, and process piping systems.

Constructed from high-grade beta-PP-H (polypropylene homopolymer), the valve body ensures excellent chemical resistance and mechanical durability. The true double union configuration with metric socket fusion ends (d20 to d63, DN15 to DN50) allows rapid installation and radial removal without disassembling adjacent piping. The piston mechanism is separated from the fluid by a PTFE/EPDM diaphragm, pairing the chemical inertness of PTFE with EPDM backing elasticity. Integrated stainless steel threaded inserts allow secure bracket mounting, while the central housing nut contains no exposed metal.

The PROGEF Type 586 functions within an adjustable setpoint range of 0.5 to 9.0 bar at a nominal pressure of PN10 (10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius). The body includes bilateral manometer ports for upstream and downstream pressure monitoring. Available with EPDM or FKM secondary seals, this unit withstands aggressive acids, alkalis, and salts in demanding industrial environments.
