Malleable iron cap
The Georg Fischer malleable iron cap 300 provides a robust, permanent or demountable end-of-line closure for threaded piping circuits across commercial, industrial, and utility infrastructure. Manufactured in strict conformity with European standard EN 10242 and international standard ISO 49 under fitting designation symbol T1, the component is cast from decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron grade EN-GJMW-400-5, corresponding to Design Symbol A. This high-integrity metallurgical formulation ensures outstanding castability, structural toughness, and superior galvanisability. The internal jointing geometry features a parallel Rp thread conforming to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, precision-machined to establish metallic compression and dependable pressure-tight sealing along thread flanks when mated with taper external R pipe threads utilizing suitable jointing media. External protection is achieved through a high-purity hot-dip galvanized finish forming layered iron-zinc alloys capped with pure zinc, significantly surpassing standard deposition requirements to provide heavy-duty corrosion protection in wet, chemically aggressive, or condensation-prone service conditions. Engineered for efficient assembly in confined plant areas, the fitting incorporates an exterior driving profile with a hexagon shape in smaller nominal sizes from 1/8 inch through 3/4 inch, transitioning to an octagon contour from 1 inch through 4 inch for stable, slip-resistant engagement with standard pipe wrenches during final torque application. Operating across a broad thermal range, the cap is rated for continuous service from -20 degrees Celsius up to 120 degrees Celsius at an allowable working pressure of 25 bar, retaining structural integrity up to 300 degrees Celsius at 20 bar. The fitting is universally suited for potable water supplies, chilled water networks, hydronic heating loops, compressed air mains, industrial process fluids, and gas distribution lines.
