This Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) PE backing flange is a metric PN10 loose flange made from S235JR zinc-coated steel, used to bolt polyethylene flange adaptors into demountable flanged joints within PE100 and PE80 butt fusion piping systems. The flange sits freely over the collar of the PE stub end, so bolt holes can be rotated and aligned on site without twisting the welded pipe run. Only the polyethylene sealing face contacts the medium, which keeps the steel body outside the flow path and limits corrosion exposure to the external environment.

Connecting dimensions conform to ISO 7005, EN 1092 and DIN 2501, so the flange mates with standard counter-flanges on valves, pumps, filters and metering equipment without machining or adaptation. The range covers pipe diameters from d200 to d630 mm (DN200 to DN600) at a nominal pressure of PN10 (10 bar). Flange outer diameter (D) runs from 340 mm to 780 mm, and the bolt circles are drilled for M20, M24 and M27 fasteners with 8 to 20 holes depending on nominal size. The zinc coating provides corrosion protection in pump rooms, valve chambers and above-ground installations.

Typical applications are industrial process piping, utility networks, water distribution and process engineering, wherever welded polyethylene has to be connected to metal equipment or to a joint that must be opened for maintenance. The flange is designed for use within GF ecoFIT and ELGEF Plus PE piping systems and is installed together with a PE flange adaptor of matching diameter and a suitable flange gasket; bolts are tightened crosswise to the torque specified for the gasket and pressure class.
